Thursday knitting class

Okay so this is not Tuesday night knitting class, this is Thursday afternoon class to learn how to make felted clogs. I am so excited about this and you will hear more from me when my clogs are done. The last picture is our teacher and the owner of the shop, Julie. The first picture is Beth who is kind and helps everybody with their projects and still manages to be a prolific knitter, I dont think she ever sleeps. The middle picture is Lisa who just came to keep us company and knit on her own project while we were learning.
The difference with Thursday class is there is not nearly as many, on Tuesday night she has to go get folding chairs to fit around the two work tables. I only photographed one of four rooms she has stuff in so you can imagine it is like I have died and gone to heaven in Craft Heaven. On the last picture you see the thing with knitting needles sticking out of it, It is a caddy to put alllllll you stuff in, I bought one, cause they were only four dollars and I didnt think I could make it for that. You will be hearing more about felting cause it really is fun.

Today is food day

Everything I looked at online this morning has had to do with food. So indulge me and let me tell you what I found.

Almost Snickers Ingredients
12 oz Low fat ice cream; softened
1 pk Sugar free Chocolate pudding

1/4 c Crunchy peanut butter
Instructions for Almost SnickersMix together ice cream, Cool Whip, peanut butter and pudding. Fold in Grape Nuts. Spread in 8x8 inch pan and freeze. Recipe By : Mary Ann Housman (WW leader) Posted
I think this would be a great make ahead dessert for any party or when your Mother in Law(thats me) comes to visit. I dont understand why they used diet like stuff, but I am willing to give it a try.

Dirty Bong Water

here is a shot recipe that I had down at J&Ps recently... I think they used southern comfort instead of amaretto....

Dirty Bong Water
1 oz Chambord® raspberry liqueur
1 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
1 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 oz spiced rum
1 oz sweet and sour mix

I don't do many shots, but I'd like to have this as a coctail.

New site

www.tipnut.com I was cruising sites again and found this site with some pretty good places to check out. Thought yall might be interested

A Libby Story

Libby came home last night telling me some crazy story. They are learning CPR at school. They had to learn the Heimlich maneuver and practice on those dolls. She said that her friend Jessie went home and tried to do the Heimlich maneuver on her dog and it bit her. She tried to practice on everyone in her family, but no one would let her, so she decided to practice on her dog instead. Maybe not the best idea!! Can you just picture a girl like Libby giving her dog the Heimlich maneuver?!?! And can you imagine what the poor dog must have been thinking?!?! No wonder it bit her!!

Happy Birthday

Well just wanted to share a picture of Einstein's birthday. Kaylie had a really good time working on this one and Jerrod somehow was the only one that could figure out how to make a hat! It was fun.

my itunes is genious

I love music.
I love itunes.
My itunes is genius...
I recently discovered this little tool in itunes where you pick a song, then click on the genius button and it creates you a 25 song playlist.
I think this is pretty slick, cuz I like to play music whenever I can.

Check it out!
"Meet Genius: a brilliant way to create perfect playlists. Play a song, click the Genius button, and iTunes creates a playlist of other songs from your library that go great together. Genius playlists help you discover songs in your library you never knew you had — and rediscover forgotten favorites."

How on earth I found such talented, smart, compassionate, hard working, sneaky, beautiful people to be in my life, I dont know, all I know is I am thankful everyday to have you all in my life. So just remember you are all my little valentines and I love you very much.

More on the ice storm

Hey doesnt that look pretty and deadly. I thought we had it bad until we went to Sikeston and saw all the devastation there and also in Paducah. People are still without power and water, yuk. It makes me thankful everytime I flush the stool and turn on a light. It did get pretty cool in our house, but I looked at it as an adventure and I was cooking and singing and RD said no singing we are supposed to be grouchy. I guess I didnt get that memo

ice storm

Last week we came home on Wednesday after the ice storm had hit Pulaski county. We followed about 6 out of town electric company trucks on Feather Trail and at one point a truck with a bucket on it was keeping a hot wire from touching the road as we passed by, very scary stuff indeed.

we are up north

Yes the gypsies are on the move again. I stayed in Olmsted last week and cleaned my house, so this week I got to come back up and stay with RedDog. I started to mop the back porch and dad shut the water off on me so no clean floor and no clean me for at least two hours.

Almost spring

My mom sent me this and I just couldn't help but share.

***************************************************

Spring's almost here in ILLINOIS ....we can now see the deer moving around. Yep, won't be long now.

Nervexsadited

Well, this is it..... The house is now officially on the market. I have very mixed emotions right at the moment, I am nervexsadited (a big mix between nervous, sad and excited). I'm excited to have the house for sell, nervous that it won't sell before we leave for Japan in June, and sad to be leaving the house. I'm just all kinds of mixed up right now! Here is the listing for the house on the Re Max website,
http://www.sharonmatranga.com/GL208708
and here it is on realtor.com.
http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Kiln_MS_39556_1106574481

I'm pretty happy with the pictures they used, except for the one of the outside of the house. I think they should have used a closer picture than they did. Maybe they were trying to show how far back from the road the house sits or something. They're the experts, I guess I'll trust their judgement.

The realtor called me last night and told me she already had 4 people call about the house, but.... all 4 calls we're from my nosey neighbors!!

That figures!

Back Into Civilization

Well,
The 2009 Ice Storm took me out of civilization for a few days. It started freezing rain on Mon night. It turned changed off from freezing rain to sleet all day and night. Wed morning we woke up to another 2 inches or so of snow on top of the ice and sleet.
My power went out on Tuesday night about 8:00 pm because we had trees and power lines down everywhere. So for 4 nights we were without power. Bright side, I didn't work 4 days this week and still get paid for it. It's amazing how much we rely on power. So we camped out in our living room because it was the only room with heat, had very little water none of it hot (we have a well with an electric pump), and enjoyed each other's company. We were lucky we had a gas stove so we ate a hot meal every night. It might not have always been done (I cooked some pretty rare hamburgers in the dark) but it was always hot!

Jerrod was off work a few days, his job didn't have power either and we had a pretty exciting day on Thursday. We went out to Ron's and borrowed the generator to recharge our freezer. Since we had the generator here Jerrod wanted to charge the well so we could fill up the holding tank. We charged the well as as Jerrod was putting the well house back on got crooked and slide on the ice breaking the water line from the well to the holding tank. Here we are standing in our ice covered yard with water shooting all over. All we could do was laugh.

We fixed that problem and was going down a road when an electrical truck was stopped in the middle of the road. The electrical truck started backing up in the middle of the road. We thought he saw us and was turning around in the next driveway so we backed up to give him plenty of room. Next thing we knew he gunned his big electrical truck in reverse. So here we are going reverse on a ice covered road in 2-wheel drive trying to keep from being hit by the electrical truck. Before it was said and done, we were flying backwards at about 20 miles per hour, screaming, honking, flashing lights all while Jerrod was kicking the truck in 4-wheel drive and driving very fast backwards. Jerrod shot backwards into a driveway and the big electrical truck just flew on past the driveway and all the way down the rest of the road. It actually got pretty scary when we could no longer see his license plates or tail lights. Thank god for Jerrod's good driving skills and push button 4-wheel drive!

Wow, that was a lot of typing. I added a few pictures to show you our area if you didn't get to see if for yourself!

Crochet Cuffs

I whipped up a pair of crochet cuffs.
I think they are really cute.
They keep my hands warm and let me type at the same time.
I found this pattern on ravelry.com yesterday and thought I'd give 'em a shot.
I like them, but I'm wondering if there is a nicer stitch to use on the bells.
These are done w/increasing half double crochets, not the prettiest stitch.
Maybe do about three rows w/the hdc, then do something else to finish it off.
The pattern suggest a curly edge, I wasn't to keen on that idea either.

Maybe I'll try something to see what I can come up with.
Be sure to look at the pattern so you can see the ones that the designer made.

Mornin' all!

Hey everybody, mom just called me to let me know they are home and doing ok. They don't have any power (again), so you won't be able to call. If you Reeaaalllly need to get ahold of them, she has dad's cell phone, but they don't have any way to recharge it.

Jo, I'm totally with you on the good cup of coffee. A few ideas....putting the vanilla in the sugar and using regular half and half. Ask mom about this, Crissy and I both love her vanilla sugar, and you can recycle the cardboard creamer container. Another thought is using the flavored coffee syrups like the coffee shops use in a regular cup o' Jo. A little goes a long way, so even if the plastic container isn't recylable, you wouldn't be throwing one out every week and you can get it at Wal-mart. I like keeping some of the syrup around...in the winter I add it to coffee, and in the summer you can mix it with ice cream and club soda to make an Italian Soda. Mmmm I can't wait for spring!

That cocoa recipe sounds yummy! It reminds me of the Mexican hot chocolate that I love so much. In our Mexican food section at the store you can get Abulita as bars or packets. Yes, it's weird searching between the refried beans and jalepenos to find hot chocolate, but it's worth the search. I like the bars, cuz I can break off as much as I want for each cup. It's in a 6"tall, yellow box with like six sides and has a picture of somebody's grandma holding a cup.

House up north

Yes the bathroom is purple and yellow, but very cheerful. Thought you all might want to see the house where we are staying.
